Structural Analysis of Car Wheel using FEA

As alloy wheel of an automobile experiences maximum load, therefore analysis of the wheel can play an important role in the safety of the passenger cars. In this project structural analysis of a car wheel is performed using ANSYS Workbench. A load (force) of 18KN is applied on the outer surface of the rim. The pitch circle holes are assigned a fixed support boundary condition. Aluminium alloy is set as material of the wheel. The maximum deformation of 0.12 mm was predicted and max equivalent stress of 58 MPa was observed in this analysis. ANSYS Mechanical simulation file is also included for download.
