Steady state simulation of centrifugal pump impeller in openfoam
NoAI: This model, simulation, images, or project may not be utilized within datasets, during the developmental process, or as inputs for generative AI programs.
The geometry of the centrifugal pump impeller was created in FreeCAD and the model was meshed with 54k cells in Salome. The geometry had 5 number of blades and to keep the simulation simple, cyclic boundary conditions were applied on two faces. SRFSimpleFoam was the solver chosen for this steady-state simulation in OpenFOAM. Solution was converged and the results were analyzed in ParaView. The parameters such as Head and Shaft power from CFD simulation were calculated and then compared with the empirical results. Thanks to Evgeniy Ivanov for the software to calculate the dimensions and empirical pump performance prediction.
